It Ain't Your Daddy's Western Wear

Western Belt buckles have come a long way. I remember the day when Western belt buckles were all pretty much made from the same mold. Your Basic big silver buckle with some engraving and most likely a Texas Longhorn to adorn it. Looking back I'm pretty sure that's what i had as a boy and i wore it proudly with my cowboy boots wherever I went.

However, just like other fashion niches, Western has incorporated trends from many other styles. Western has always, ever since the rhinestone cowboy anyway, incorporated rhinestones. Rhinestone belt buckles are very popular and the rhinestone easily made it's way into Western wear. If you think about Western wear itself can be pretty fancy. Lots of paisley and fancy designs. However nowadays you'll find western Belt Buckles with a hip hop flavor to them. Western has become high fashion and to do so it has borrowe from so many other fashions.

Like We Knew Them, the Classic Western Belt Buckle

I think most people think of the traditional Western Belt buckle. A Silver buckle with a Texas Longhorn. Maybe some scroll to set it of and a bit of gold cutout to make it really special.

This was the buckle worn in the movies by the heroes of the time and what everyone thinks of when we say cowboy belt buckle. It's truly a piece of Americana. A huge symbol of our culture.

Buckles were big and shiny. A buckle was your identity (Of course your true identity was engraved into your belt). The buckle always seemed to be the conversation piece. "Nice buckle ya got yerself there pardner". Something to be proud of. Of course if you had some major accomplishment in your life like riding a bull your buckle would say it for all the world to see. It identified us, who we are and what we believed in. that's a whole lot for a shiny piece of metal.

Like a Rhinestone Cowboy

Then something happened. Perhaps it was the song "Like a Rhinestone Cowboy". Perhaps it was a want for something new. But the cowboy belt buckle evolved.

I guess this was just a matter of time. If you think about it the Western Fashion market has always had a stylish side to it. Fancy, out on the town Western shirts always were covered in beautiful scrolled and paisley patterns. They certainly were never dull.

Western can mean a lot of things, shiny and sparkly is one of those things. There is huge demand for Western Rhinestone Belt Buckles. They are certainly worn by more than just Country music singers.

You'll find Western Rhinestone Belt buckles in lots of styles from the completely covered in Rhinestone like a crystal ball to the traditional buckles with just a little bit of sparkly jewels added. It's quite a diversity in fashion even within this fashion niche.

A wild and beautiful combination. the classic Texas Longhorn made modern with a little bling bling.

A Twist on a Classic

Of coarse you'll find many classic designs with just a litle fancy upgrade. You'll see many popular designs which mimic the classic scroll or silver buckle with a little fancy added. Just add Rhinestones and make it better.

The Old Classic with a bit more

Western has gotten pretty creative.
